Project Summary
Ammonia holds significant importance in both industrial and agricultural applications. Presently, ammonia production relies on the Haber Bosch process, demanding substantial energy inputs and exhausting carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. Electrochemical nitrate reduction reaction is a good alternative way using renewable energy. Nevertheless, the kinetics involved in this reaction process are intricate. Simultaneously, excessive overpotential leads to competition between nitrate reduction and hydrogen evolution reaction, resulting in low Faraday efficiency. For electrocatalytic reactions, electrocatalysts play a crucial role in achieving outstanding catalytic performance. Therefore, the rational design and optimization of electrocatalysts are our key research directions.
