Project summary
Urea is a common fertilizer and a valuable energy carrier for decarbonization scheme, yet, the conventional production method, is energy-intensive and accounts for high CO2 emission. Consequently, an environmentally benign approach for urea production is pivotal for planetary sustainability. The electrochemical synthesis of urea holds numerous advantages to replace the traditional method, which employs electricity from renewable sources to convert greenhouse gas CO2 and environmental pollutant nitrate (NO3─) into urea. Therefore, my research projects aim to unravel the underlying reaction pathway for urea generation, which in turn will shed light on developing strategies for preparing novel and efficient catalysts.
